BOAO, Hainan, April 3 (Guangming Online) – China must take the lead internationally in discussion of data, a Brazilian former economic advisor said during a session themed with “Strenghtening Data Security” at the BFA Annual Conference, Mar. 31, 2023.

Alessandro Golombiewski Teixeira, Former Chief Economic Advisor to President of Brazil, former Deputy Minister of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade of Brazil, and Professor at School of Public Policy and Management at Tsinghua University, foresaw that the data technology would become the main production factor in the future, and it would open new activities and economic sectors.

According to Teixeira, China should lead the data discussion, because China owns the most mature data economy. “The importance of this discussion need to be led by China,” he said.

“China is one of the most digitalized economy in the world, and China is leading in terms of application in technology,” he told Guangming Online in an exclusive interview, “so the data discussion cannot be shaped by Europe or the US, need to be engaged by China.”
